If you’re interested in accessing our ever-growing collection, including interviews from our Oral History Project, there are a few easy steps to take in order to ensure your visit is as smooth as possible.
Firstly, you’ll need to register as a reader by filling in a short application form, either online or in person, and bringing two forms of identification with you on the day. For more information on registering, please visit the Sheffield City Archives website.
Once registered you’ll have full access to the Archives’ facilities including the Sheffield and District Family History Society Library, microform readers, photography and scanning services and many more resources to help you with your visit. Although the Archives can provide headphones, they only have a limited number so if you’d like to listen to our oral history interviews, we advise you to bring your own if possible.
